Cloe Madanes, LPC, (Hon) Ph.D.

Cloe is a teacher of family and brief therapy and one of the originators of the strategic approach to family therapy. She has authored seven books, including: Strategic Family Therapy; Behind the One-Way Mirror; Sex, Love, and Violence; The Secret Meaning of Money; The Violence of Men; The Therapist as Humanist, Social Activist, and Systemic Thinker; and Relationship Breakthrough. She has won several awards for distinguished contributions to psychology, and in addition been featured in Newsweek, The Washington Post, and the Boston Globe.

Course Description:

Cloe Madanes will present 10 strategies for working with couples, some of them will be illustrated with videotapes of actual therapy sessions.  The whole range of marital issues will be covered - from communication difficulties, to infidelity, marital violence, and more.  Special emphasis will be given on how to help partners understand and fulfill each other's needs.

Learning Objectives:

1. To list 5 new strategies that you can apply to your practice.
2. To list and describe the 6 universal human needs.
3. To describe a strategy for the prevention of marital violence.

Hours:

Hours: 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM and 1:30 PM to 4:30 PM

6 Continuing Education Units

Continuing Education Units, approved for MFT’s, LCSW’s, as required by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences, Provider #PCE 14, & by the California Board of Registered Nurses, BRN #2062. MRI maintains responsibility for the program and its contents.
