Presenters:
Eileen Bobrow, M.A. is director of MRI’s Strategic Family Therapy and Training
Center. She is a Senior Research Fellow of the Mental Research Institute. She
has been both a Regional Faculty Member of the Family Therapy Institute of
Washington, D.C., and an Associate Trainer of the Gestalt Institute of San
Francisco.
About this Workshop:
The philosophical origins of Strategic Family Therapy
can be traced to its beginnings over 45 years ago, when Don Jackson founded the
MRI in 1959.
Goals and Objectives
Participants will gain an understanding of the following:
- Theoretical foundations for Strategic Family Therapy
- Practical understanding of how to conduct a first session,
- What variables to focus on,
- How to decide who should participate in the therapy,
- How to manage all the systems that should be addressed
- Family life cycle’s place in Strategic Therapy
- How and When to Give Directives: Indirect and Direct
- Paradox – when and when not to use it
